Verdekte deur - Ets

Deze ets maakte ik tijdens mijn verblijf in een grote grafische werkplaats in Rheine, België. Een oud kloosterpand omringd door bos, met een moestuin waar we gewassen konden oogsten en een koe in het weiland naast ons. Ik kwam hier helemaal tot rust en in een fijn ritme van 's ochtends naar buiten om te schetsen en 's midaags de schetsen uitwerken in grafische technieken.
Deze etsplaat heb ik voorbereid in de werkplaats, waarna ik hem mee naar buiten heb genomen op een ritje op mijn longboard. Ik stopte bij dit uit elkaar vallende gebouw. De grilligheid sprak mij aan. Ik ging zitten op met longboard en tekende direcht op de plaat mijn voorstelling om vervolgens terug te gaan naar de werkplaats waar ik al spelend met inkt de prent zes keer heb afgedrukt.

Original etching in an edition of 6 prints.
This etching I made during my stay at a graphic workplace in Rheine, Belgium. An old monastary building surrounded by forest, with a vegetable garden and a cow grazing in the meadow right beside the workplace. A place where I could unwind and get into a rhythm of going out to sketck in the morning and working with those sketches in the workplace that afternoon.
This particular etchingplate I prepared in the workshop to then take outside with me on a longboard trip. I stopped at this overgrown building that has been falling apart at some places. It grabbed my attention. I sat down on my longoard and started drawing directly on the plate. Afterwards I went back to the graphic workplace and printed the plate while experimenting with ink effects.
