Zeedraken - mixed media

Het toffe aan zeewezens vind ik dat ze er zo anders uit zien dan alles wat op land loopt. Dat begint al door het feit dat ze niet lopen maar zweven waardoor allerlei andere onderdelen van toepassing zijn. Zo bestaan er wezens die lijken op een zwevende, losgeraakte plant zoals deze zeedraak. 

Dit beeld is onderdeel van de set vissenkaarten die ik maakte voor uitgeverij Loopvis. Deze kaarten zijn ook in de webshop te vinden. Een set met vissen die ik echt bijzonder vind, waar de zeedraak absoluut bij hoort.

Original piece

The thing I find so fascinating about seacreatures is that they don't walk becouse gravituy pulls them down, they float around and move with parts that you wouldn'd need on land. It makes them look so different and cool. this seadragon for instance could easily be mistaken for a piece of floating plant if not for their bright divergent colours.

I made this illustration  for the series of fish cards I made for Loopvis. These cards are also available in my webshop. It's a series of fish I find fascinating and would love to share. The seadragon has fascinated me for years of watching documenteries about sealife. It has earned its spot.
